CONSIGNMENT GUIDELINES

  • Consignors receive 40% of the base selling price of each item sold. You may collect your active account balance at our Moore Drive location anytime during business hours or you may redeem it as credit in the store. You also have the option to have a check mailed when your balance is $50 or more at the end of the month. The consignor’s account is charged a mailing fee of $1.00 when a check is mailed.

  • To open a new account (minimum five items), a ten dollar registration fee will be applied to the account.

  • Consignment periods are 60 days for standard items, 90 days for items we classify as Designer, or until the end of the season, whichever is shorter.

  • Spring items are accepted from January-March, Summer will be from April-June, Fall will be from July-September, and Winter items will be accepted from October-December. Items priced under $100 are not available to pickup. Items we price over $100 may be picked up at no charge seven days or less prior to expiration. Item retrieval is the sole responsibility of the client.

  • All items expire at the end of the consignment period and unsold items will be removed from the account. Expired items become property of Stephen Lawrence Ltd and may be donated, sold, or otherwise discarded. Items sold after expiration will not be credited to the client’s account.

  • The base selling price is the sole discretion of Stephen Lawrence Ltd. A buyers fee, which the buyer pays, is added to the base selling price of each item. We may reduce items following 30 days. Items considered late in the season (after Dec 1st for winter or after June 1st for summer) may be reduced at our discretion.

  • Please prepare items for selling (clean, pressed and on hangers) to maximize selling price. Clients receive a receipt at the time of drop off noting the number of items accepted. We reserve the right to donate accepted items upon further inspection.

  • Stephen Lawrence Ltd will take responsible care of your items; however we cannot be responsible for any loss whatsoever: including damages while on the sales floor, or from fire, water or other natural causes, theft, or any other cause. All items are left at the clients risk.

INSPECTION TIPS

Men’s clothing: Flatten the collar on shirts to see if there is a stain on the collar or on the cuffs. Check lining inside pants for stains. Dry Cleaners frequently do not get these stains out.

Zip up jackets - lay flat on a table to see that the zipper lays flat

Pants - check for frayed hems.

  • White tops and other white items sell well, however make sure they do not have underarm or collar stains and are not discolored (did a red sock turn your favorite top pink?).

  • Worn apparel. If the item is faded (especially black), pilled, shrunk, zippers are bumpy or stick, the item is tailored or altered, we are not able to accept it.

  • Embellishments. Embroidery and sequins must be in excellent condition. - no loose thread or missing sequins

Shoes - The top and heel of the shoe must be free of scuff marks. No toe indentations or marks on visible open toe soles. Laces, straps/buckles must be in excellent condition.
